Obituary of Dennis P Baker

Dennis P. Baker Sr., age 78, resident of Rockaway, NJ, and husband of Jane Baker, went to be with God on Thursday night, December 16. 2021 at the East Orange General Hospital in East Orange, NJ.

Dennis was born on June 20, 1943, in Clifton, N.J., the son of the late Albert Baker, and Elizabeth Boon Baker.  He received his education in Clifton, graduating from Clifton High School in 1961, and served his country as a member of the United States Army National Guard, obtaining the rank of Corporal, and receiving an honorable discharge.  Dennis was a former resident of Wayne and Wanaque New Jersey and was married on February 27, 1965.  He was a member of the St. Casimir’s R.C. Church in Paterson, New Jersey and was a vocalist in the choir.  He was self-employed for many years as a Siding and Building contractor.  Dennis was a great wealth of historical knowledge and specifically enjoyed the history of World War II, as well as a lover of music, specifically Luciano Pavarotti, George Beverley Shea, and many Choir and Choral ensembles.  He was a long-time member of the Working with Others group of Alcoholics Anonymous in Netcong, N.J., celebrating 16 years of sobriety this past year.

Dennis is survived by his wife Jane Baker, his son, Dennis Baker Jr. of Lincoln Park, NJ, daughter Allison McCarthy (Terry) of Cape Carteret, NC two grandchildren, Patrick and Kelly McCarthy, also of Cape Carteret, his sister-in-law Donna Baker of Montgomery, Alabama, as well as many nieces, nephews, grandnieces, grandnephews and a large multitude of friends.

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his brother, Arthur Baker of Montgomery Alabama.

 

The family has decided on a small private ceremony and in lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the organization of the donor's choice.
